Mother roots e

Transition Town Totnes, UK

Helen Jacoby and I started the mother roots  project in 2021 when we met at Transition Town Totnes. We want to collect individual stories and collective themes around the mothering energy that lies in all of us: the unconditional, nurturing, inclusive, rhizomatic energy. We believe it complements the linear, driving force to respond to our planetary challenges and is essential  for our societal transformation. We want to make this energy visible through arts and story telling, amplifying voices embodying it. Have a look and share your voice:

Rights under the veil

Germany/Italy

This project started as a response to the horror of the Paris terrorist attacks in 2015 and the rise in islamophobia. It coincided with the opening of the German borders to Syrian refugees and the encounter of rural German communities with Muslims. Roberta Chimera and I started a transmedia project, creating spaces of dialogue and showcasing the work of Islamic feminist academics, artists, activists in a huge variety of settings. Roberta is continuing this important work after I left Berlin two years ago.
